I am, Ovayo Makapela, born and raised in Eastern Cape. I grew up in a village named Ndevane where I spent half of my childhood, and the other half in King Williams Town which was approximately 15-20 minute drive apart. However, we then moved to King Williams Town due to the school being there and that’s where I spent the rest of my childhood growing up. I went to Dale College Boys High in 2013 in grade 5 and finished the rest of my schooling there and matriculated in 2020. Although I had already found interest in drawing in grade 2 before I went to Dale College, (they didn’t teach arts then) and continued to draw until my matric year when I decided to study Fine Arts and came to the UFS. I am now a 3rd year student at the UFS still in my journey of pursuing art.
